What easyJet pays: examples with real distances

The amount depends on the flight distance, not the ticket price. Here are example easyJet routes with the distance worked out the way the regulation requires (EU261 amounts):

    Barcelona → Geneva637 km€250 for 3 h or more
    Málaga → London Gatwick1,645 km€400 for 3 h or more

    How to claim from easyJet

Claim from easyJet in writing first, through the claims form on its website, with your booking reference and boarding pass. Ask explicitly for compensation under EU261 (or UK261) as well as any refund or expenses.

For a easyJet flight departing Spain, the enforcement body is AESA; for one departing the UK, the airline's ADR scheme or the CAA.

On easyJet flights departing the UK, UK261 applies and pays £220, £350 or £520 instead of euros.

    How much you can claim

A fixed amount per passenger based on flight distance, not ticket price. Flights from Spain and the rest of the EU follow EU261 (euros); flights from the UK follow UK261 (pounds). Sources: Your Europe, European Commission and UK Civil Aviation Authority.
